1.MSc Computer Sciences and Applications 

The Two-year Master’s Degree Programme in Computer Science is introduced under the Department of Computer Science, in 2010 to meet the growing demand for well qualified software professionals in the Industry. The course curriculum is designed by MG University. The program focuses on a broad area of foundations in Computer Science, deep understanding of the specific area like, Machine Learnings, data analysis , IoT  and capacity to solving new problems and  to  interact with trans-disciplinary groups.

M.Sc. Computer Science course furnishes graduates that are well-versed with the technicalities of the computer science domain specifically in coding, designing, data analysis and can help the world in being more organized and fast at the same time.

The main objective of M.Sc. Computer Science is to equip the students with sufficient exposure and skills to enable them to catch a deserving position in data science and software industry. It develops an interest among the candidates towards a career in academics and research and  enable them with sufficient knowledge to become a competent academician.

Objective - The main objective of this program is to develop the skill of designing, coding and data analysis.

 Outcome - Will be placed as system developer or data analysts in the IT industry.

2. MSc. Biotechnology

Biotechnology is an interdisciplinary science. The MSc  programme imparts basic and advanced knowledge  in interdisciplinary fields of biotechnology. Currently biological data is accumulating in huge quantities and this programme  aims at the use of  modern tools to study and analyse the biological data. It equips the candidates to meet the demands of the society to get sustainable products and processes through biotechnology. 

There are many ethical issues associated with experiments and products related to biotechnology. The students should be  aware of the ethical issues, personal and environmental safety during biotechnology practices. Documentation and  research methodology should be familiarised to the PG students and this is achieved through implementation of projects in the fourth semester. 

3.MSc. Geology

MSc Course in Geology started in February 2021 as a two year regular programme under the Dept. of Geology. Geology is the science that deals with the earth's structure, subsurface and its materials, history & process act on it. An important aspect of geology is the study of how those materials, structures, processes and organisms have changed over time. Geology is an inductive science that requires creative geologists to develop hypotheses, sort through any available data, and determine the most logical theory based on that data. The students can also develop reasoning and analytical skills that will be useful to them throughout their lives.                                                                                                                                           The study of Geology helps to the investigation of mineral resources, analysis and the solution of  environmental related problems in the field of construction and engineering areas, prediction  and its remedial  measures of geological hazards. The geology students have a number of  opportunities depending on their areas of interests. They can choose a number of possible careers such as Geoscientists, Mining and Geological engineers, Hydrogeologists, Meteorologists, GIS and Geographic specialists etc. 

4. MCom

The two year Masters Degree in Commerce  program was started in 2005 as an unaided course (self financing)in this college. This course covers the study of Principles of Finance, Financial planning, Accountancy and economic theory along with a specialised focus on taxation which is termed as a process of imposing financial charge (tax) on the citizens who earn 'taxable income'.

The aim of the program is to provide awareness to the learners regarding the developments in the field of business, commerce, industry and management and equip them to develop necessary analytical and managerial skills so as to cope up with the challenges posed by the industry and environment, both national and global.

The main objective of this programme is to train the student to develop conceptual, applied and research skills as well as competencies required for effective problem solving and right decision making in routine and special activities relevant to financial management, banking transactions of a business, security market transactions and corporate governance.

Programme Outcome:-

  • Developing problem analysis skills and knowledge and applying the same in real life situation.
  • Using research knowledge and aptitude acquired in the course of studying for solving socially relevant problems.
  • Developing effective communication skills and ability to work in teams by strengthening group dynamics.
  • Development of quantitative aptitude and analytical skills of the learner.
  • Imparting advanced accounting knowledge and skills and provide awareness regarding latest developments in the field of accounting.

 5. MSc Physics

The two year Master's Degree programme in Physics is introduced in SAS SNDP Yogam College under PG Dept. Of Physics. This course impart basic and advanced knowledge in Physical Science. This programme aims to develop rational thinking among students and build a path for research minded students to improve their academic quality.

 Objective:Main objective of the programme is to develop and solve problems analytically.

  UNDER GRADUATE PROGRAMMES

 

1.BSc Mathematics

This UG  Programme (Model 1 Mathematics) is framed  using  time  tested  and  internationally  popular text  books. Only  those  concepts  that  can  be  introduced  at  the  UG  level  are  selected  and  instead  of cramming  the  course  with  too  many  ideas  the  stress  is  given  in  doing  the  selected conceptsrigorously. The  idea  is  to  make  learning  mathematics  meaningful  and  an  enjoyable activity rather than  acquiring  manipulative  skills  and  reducing  the  whole  thing  an  exercise  in  using  thumb rules. 

     As  learning  Mathematics  is  doing  Mathematics,  to  this  end,  some  activities  are  prescribed  to increase  students’  participation  in  learning. Every  student  has  to  do  a  project  during  6th  semester.

2. Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA)

 BBA three year full-time programme reflects the needs of present-day dynamic business and economic scenarios and enables the students to face the challenges of the corporate world today. The program is designed to develop knowledge on the functional area of business administration and equip students in management, commerce, banking, economics, industrial psychology, law, mathematics, statistics, accounting, communication, and computer application, empowering them to set up business enterprises themselves. Minor and major projects: one theoretical and one practical, three industrial visits, and a report presentation will provide the students the knowledge they deserve to gain through this programme.

Aim and objectives:-

To train the students to be competent, to impart basic and operational knowledge on all  functional areas of management and above all encourage young BBA'S  to turn in to Entrepreneurs.

3.Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA)

The department of Computer Science offers BCA degree programme under Choice Based Credit and Semester System (CBCSS) of M G University from 1995 onwards. The course curriculum is designed  by MG University to equip the students with sufficient exposure and skills to enable them to catch a deserving position in software industry. The students are given sufficient training to meet the requirements of the Information Technology Industry. The department distinguishes itself academically with the highest intake demand and pass percentage and has been able to maintain the excellence. The students are given training on Windows and LINUX platforms and in various high level languages and packages.

The department has developed a unique learning process by suitably mixing seminars, workshop, guest faculty visit from the industry, study visits, personality development programmes, along with the regular curricular transactions. 

After acquiring the Bachelor’s Degree (BCA) , there is further educational opportunity to go for an MCA or other Master’s Programme like MSc(CS), MSc(IT), MBA, etc., at MG university or at any other University/Institute. Also after completing the BCA Programme, a student should be able to get entry level job in the field of Information Technology

4. Bachelor of Commerce (BCom)

From 1995 onwards Commerce was one among the under graduate level courses. The department offers quality education to its students from the very inception stage and all the permanent teachers till date were NET qualified. It started functioning with B Com course in annual system, with Co-operation-Paper I and Paper II as optional papers. In the year 2000 the optional changed to a very dynamic Computer Applications to cater the needs of job seekers. Again in 2012 it changed its optional to Finance and Taxation sensing a high market demand for such graduates. In such a way the Department of Commerce always tried to make rapid strides in tune with the changes in the field of Economics, Trade and Commerce to give a quality output of graduates to the needy. The department in its 25 years of imparting quality education to the rural district of Pathanamthitta, has also been able to create CA’s and NET qualifiers. It is organising TALLY as an add on course and a 30 Hours Certificate Course on Practical Methodology of Social Science Research for enriching it's graduates. Now the B Com course is running in CBCS Semester System  as per the MG University guifelines
