Kerala has established itself as a prominent destination of world leisure tourism for its natural beauty and cultural assets. With an intention to promote responsible tourism in the state, Government of Kerala proposed to set up tourism clubs in schools and colleges in the state under district tourism promotion councils. With the support of the District Tourism Promotion Council, the tourism club was set up in our college in the year 2008, to promote nature appreciation, outdoor activities, conservation, friendship and understanding.Tourism club of our college is a place for anyone who loves to travel, explore and build their curiosity; a platform to share their travel stories.
The main aim of tourism club is to promote domestic tourism and to make the young people aware of tourism as a means of sustainable development and also to incorporate the student's strength and potential in the development of tourism in our State. It also finds out the local tourism destinations to prepare new tourism projects and tries to relate tourism with history and culture.
Every year the club arrange orientation programs for fresher’s and seminar and invited talks by eminent persons from tourism and hospitality industry and conducts exhibitions, photography competitions, Quiz competitions etc. These programs have helped the students in understanding the tourism industry and its endless career opportunities. As part of the world tourism day celebrations every year the club conduct various literarycompetitions for the students. Apart from the competitions the club organizes Field visit to an unknown destination. Since it is a field with immense job opportunities, students are very enthusiastic and are genuinely interested to participate in the activities of the tourism club.
